Email Spooling Service
Price: Starting at $30/year (Backup MX role, up to 8 users)
Description: E-Mail Spooling Service provides mail spooling service for hosts with either a full-time or part-time Internet connection. E-Mail Spooling Service offers flexible delivery modes to allow the service to adapt to your changing needs. ETRN can be an important part of your company's disaster recovery plan by giving you the option to queue or divert e-mail in the event your primary systems fail. For customers with a full-time Internet connection our E-Mail Spooling Service functions as a backup MX (Mail eXchanger). This service enables you to service your mail server without the risk of loosing important e-mail. If your server or Internet connection is down this service queues your e-mail and delivers the queued e-mail to your server once your server is back up. All of this is completely automatic. For customers with a part-time Internet connection our E-Mail Spooling Service provides multiple delivery modes. This service has flexibility to get e-mail delivered to your server regardless of your connectivity.
Our three most commonly used delivery modes are:
ETRN - This mode requires your server have a static IP address. Most of the common Groupware applications like Microsoft® Exchange and Novell® GroupWise have built-in support for ETRN. Please visit our Support pages for information on configuring your application.
Authenticated Dynamic - This mode enables servers with dynamic IP addresses to receive incoming e-mail over SMTP. This allows for the highest level of flexibility and transparancy possible with a dynamic IP address.
POP3 - This mode enables servers that don't have incoming connectivity from the Internet to receive e-mail. This mode is most commonly used when the ISP, firewall, or router prevents incoming connections. Please contact us if you need help deciding which delivery mode is most appropriate for you. This service is flexible, it is no problem to change delivery modes in the future. Some delivery modes may even be used together. If you have a special need that isn't covered here, please contact us. We can often design a custom solution to fit your needs.

We Answer Your Questions: FAQ
Q: What is the maximum e-mail attachment size?
A: The ETRN.com e-mail servers do not limit the size of individual e-mail attachments. The ETRN.com e-mail servers do impose a 400 MB maximum total message size limit. Individual customers can choose a smaller message size limit. We can also customize the handling of "over-sized" e-mails. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs. A couple of important facts:
1. Attachments are typically encoded in what is called Base64[1]. As a result, the actual length of MIME-compliant Base64-encoded binary data is usually about 137% of the original file size.
2. E-mails often contain both plain text and HTML components. This also increases the overall size of the e-mail.
